SUMMARY:5th National Congress on Sarcoidosis Diagnosis and Treatment
DESCRIPTION:17-18 April 2026\n\nThe ACSI (Friends Against Sarcoidosis Italy
) Association and its President dr Filippo Martone are pleased to announce
the\n\nFIFTH NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SARCOIDOSIS DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT:
 Evolution and new paradigms.\n\nSarcoidosis is a rare\, chronic\, systemic
granulomatous inflammatory disease characterised by high clinical heterog
eneity. It can be asymptomatic\, constituting an incidental diagnostic fin
ding\, or it can manifest with multi-organ involvement and a chronic cours
 e\, often associated with pre-existing or time-dependent comorbidities.\nA
significant proportion of patients – estimated between 30% and 50% –
present complex forms\, burdened by a high morbidity load\, determined not
only by the direct manifestations of the disease\,\nbut also by the prese
nce of concomitant or emerging comorbidities and the side effects of prolo
nged therapies\, particularly those based on corticosteroids and immunosup
pressants.\nThese conditions have a significant impact on patients’ qual
ity of life\, with important psychosocial repercussions and reduced workin
 g capacity\, which also translate into significant socio-economic costs\nD
espite advances in research\, sarcoidosis remains a largely “orphan” d
isease: little known\, often underestimated in its severity and sometimes
mistakenly considered a benign and self-limiting condition. This perceptio
n contributes to diagnostic delays\, inadequate treatment and fragmented m
anagement that is not commensurate with the clinical complexity of patient
s.\nThe systemic nature of the disease\, together with the frequent presen
ce of comorbidities\, requires an integrated and multidisciplinary clinica
l approach\, which can only be achieved in reference centres with specific
expertise\, adequate resources and a strong involvement in scientific res
earch and the development of new therapeutic options.\nIn recent years\, s
arcoidosis has received increasing attention thanks to the joint efforts o
f national European patient associations\, leading international scientifi
c societies (WASOG\, ELF\, ERS) and supranational organisations affiliated
with the European Commission\, such as the ERN Lung Sarcoidosis Core Netw
ork\, which are working to accelerate research and redefine diagnostic and
therapeutic paradigms.\nThis is the context for the 5th National Congress
on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Sarcoidosis – “Evolution and New Pa
radigms”\, which represents an important opportunity for multidisciplina
ry discussion to explore the many aspects of the disease. Thanks to the co
ntribution of authoritative national and international experts\, the main
clinical and management aspects of sarcoidosis will be discussed\, with pa
rticular attention to technological innovation\, quality of life\, the psy
chosocial dimension and the psychological care of patients.\nThe aim is to
promote an increasingly in-depth understanding of sarcoidosis\, its etiop
athogenetic mechanisms and its manifestations\, in order to improve the di
agnostic-therapeutic approach\,\nenhance care and progress towards a defin
itive cure.\n\nCheck out the Congress poster
